Labyrinth Beautification

Hendrix College Campus

Restoring a Space for Reflection and Celebration

The Hendrix Labyrinth is a “Petite Chartres” labyrinth, modeled after the labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral, a Christian pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages. This project involves re-staining the 18-year-old labyrinth located in the southwest corner of the campus. In addition, signage and new benches will be installed to help create a more contemplative space. Labyrinths, known to foster contemplative prayer and reflection, can also be the site of joyful celebrations—weddings, graduations, and other rites of passage.
